Pablo Matisse Exhibition, São Paulo, Extended until April 30, 2016

Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, locally known as PUC, will feature a one-man show of artist Pablo Matisse, opening Thursday, March 10, 2016; featuring a critical discussion with the artist and Professor Dr. Sonia Campaner at 8 p.m.

Pablo Matisse, is the non de plume of Dane LaChiusa, a Brooklyn artist who blends styles and motifs of Matisse and Picasso on canvas. After successful showings in Brooklyn and New York City the artist’s work has been touring Brazil since January of this year. Fazenda da Posse gallery in the state of Rio de Janeiro, was the first Brazilian gallery to show his work in the context of a group exhibition titled “Tributos”, followed this February by Espaço das Artes Zélia Arbex, VR, Brazil.

Says LaChiusa, “Picasso and Matisse were notorious for “appropriating” from each other. Now I have appropriated from both of them in hopes of shedding a new light on the complementary styles of these two great masters, while producing works that are unique and not reducible to either of them, or both together.” PabloMatisse.com
Exhibition extended until April 30, 2016 due to popular demand. Gallery Address: PUC Campus Consol ação rue Marques de Paranagua 111 predio 2 São Paulo - Brazil

  1. I love the way you have presented your stance as, and I love the way you are seeking middle ground between the two artists. This is good progressive thinking.
